I have heard there is a waiting period before a divorce is granted in Oregon. Is that true?
Oregon previously had statutory 90-day waiting period that began to run on the date service of the Petition was made upon you or your spouse. As of January 2012, this waiting period has been abolished. Uncontested divorces can theoretically take place in a day, though practically speaking many Oregon counties have wait periods associated with the physical processing of paperwork by the court and judge. Different counties also have different docket schedules, and have a large degree of impact on how long a case takes. A contested divorce may take up to 12 months or more to finish; the likely duration depends largely upon the issues involved.
